West Yorkshire based not-for-profit, Sovereign Health Care, has announced donations of more than £103,000 to Yorkshire NHS Trusts in 2022. The donation demonstrates Sovereign’s longstanding commitment to supporting NHS services in the region, with support for the health and wellbeing of local people one of its founding principles 150 years ago.
The Yorkshire NHS Trusts have used the funding from health care cash plan provider, Sovereign, to support nurse training and wellbeing, improve staff working environments and improve patient and family experience in hospital. Donations have been made to the following seven Trusts: Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trusts, Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, and Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust Chair, Dame Linda Pollard, said: “We are grateful for the ongoing support of Sovereign Health Care, who enable us to make additional investments in areas such as staff training and wellbeing, as well as improving facilities for patients. Sovereign’s 2022 donation will provide funding for areas including supporting valuable training and education opportunities for nurses, and improving working environments for our staff.”
Russ Piper, chief executive of Sovereign Health Care, said: “The NHS continues to face unrelenting pressure in terms of demand and resources. Against this backdrop, staff are showing incredible resilience and continue to provide the best care they can. Now, more than ever, we must deliver on our commitment to local people’s health and wellbeing, and our ability to support NHS staff training and environments to support their professional development and wellbeing is crucial.”
Sovereign actively donates the equivalent of between 5 and 10 per cent of its annual turnover through its Community Programme, which supports charities, groups and organisations that work to improve the health and wellbeing of those living in West Yorkshire. The NHS is a major beneficiary of this programme, with Sovereign donating more than £2.2 million to NHS organisations over the last 15 years.
Sovereign Health Care also supports the NHS through its commercial business. Sovereign cash plans give people money back towards routine, everyday health care. By helping with the affordability of treatment, Sovereign customers can proactively manage their health care, whether accessed through the NHS or privately.
Sovereign Health Care was established 150 years ago and is one of the UK’s longest established providers of health care cash plans for individuals and businesses, with approximately 67,000 customers across the UK.
