Sovereign Health Care celebrates a major birthday this year, marking 150 years of supporting the health and wellbeing of individuals and the community. To honour this milestone, Sovereign will this year donate up to a record £1.5 million to the local community, including more than £800,000 to Yorkshire NHS Trusts, through our Community Programme.

Founded in 1873 as the Hospital Fund of Bradford to raise funds for local hospitals, Sovereign has remained true to its roots. As a not-for-profit organisation, we now donate between 5 and 10 per cent of our annual turnover to charities and organisations working to improve the health and wellbeing of those living in West Yorkshire. The NHS is a major beneficiary of this programme receiving more than £3 million over the last 16 years.

Our Chief Executive, Russ Piper, says: “We are incredibly proud to celebrate 150 years of Sovereign Health Care. Despite the changes in society over that time, our commitment to running the business for the good of our customers and the community remains steadfast.

“We see ourselves as custodians of Sovereign and its role in supporting the health and wellbeing of local people. With that comes a big responsibility to contribute and create social value in our communities. Whilst we are a relatively small organisation, we have a big impact on local lives, and I look forward to that continuing for another 150 years.”
